Guthrie High School Brings Fairy Tales to Life: Into the Woods

Magic, mystery and music will take center stage this April as Guthrie High School presents its spring musical, Into the Woods. The beloved Broadway production weaves together classic fairy tales with a sophisticated score and heartfelt story, promising audiences an unforgettable theatrical experience.

With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine, Into the Woods intertwines the stories of Cinderella, Jack (of beanstalk fame), Little Red Riding Hood and a Baker and his Wife on a quest to reverse a witch’s curse. While the first act delivers familiar fairy-tale charm, the second act explores the deeper consequences of wishes granted and the true meaning of “happily ever after.”

Performances will take place at the Fogarty auditorium on:

  • Thursday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m.

  • Friday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m.

  • Saturday, April 12 at 2:30 p.m.

  • Sunday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Students have been rehearsing for months, dedicating long afternoons and evenings to perfecting the musical’s intricate harmonies, challenging choreography and emotionally rich scenes. The production features elaborate costumes, imaginative set designs and a live orchestra, all designed to transport audiences deep into the enchanted woods.

The spring musical is a long-standing tradition at Guthrie High School and continues to showcase the depth of talent within the school’s performing arts department. Community members, families and friends are encouraged to attend and support the hard work of these young performers.

Tickets will be available at the door prior to each performance. Audience members are encouraged to arrive early, as strong community turnout is expected.

For an evening of laughter, reflection and show-stopping musical numbers, follow the path into the woods this April.
