Guthrie v. Duncan Week 2
This following Friday night the Guthrie Bluejays faced off against the Duncan Demons for Guthrie's first home game this season. The energy was very vibrant and ready for it, last year when Guthrie faced off against them they were the dominant team ending with 52-12. This year was no different ending with a 42-10 with Guthrie on top.
The game started with Guthrie kicking off first, Duncan turned that and took it all the way to the endzone, Starting the game off 0-7. Guthrie immediately Started driving down the field with big runs made by #12 Daelon Rice, a Jr. QB for the Guthrie Bluejays.
Some other big play makers of the night for Guthrie were #9 Kellen Hirzel Sr LB, #12 Dereon Whitehorn Jr DB, and #18 Elijah Paine So. RB/LB.
Dereon Whitehorn returned a punt which allowed Guthrie to finally start getting momentum early. Duncan kept making mistakes like jumping offsides and a bad snap on a punt which was recovered by Duncan on their own 8 but was a turnover on downs. It left Guthrie in a great spot to score.
Elijah Paine is a big part of the big package for Guthrie which led him to get two touchdowns for the night. The first half ended with Kellen Hirzel getting big interception
The second half started off with the core being 28-10. Guthrie got the ball first and had a long drive down the field. Runs made by #8 Ejiah Smith Sr. RB, and Daelon. Big play catches made by #3 Amare Watson Sr. WR. By the end The score was 42-10 with the Bluejays being victorious.
This game was a big boost to Guthrie's morale after their week 0 game against the Tuttle Tigers. For Duncan this was a big learning point for them, Guthrie showed their flaws and ran with it. Next week Guthrie will face off against the Blanchard Lions at Guthrie's home field. The Duncan demons will face off against the Shawnee Wolves at Duncan. Both of these games will start at 7pm on Friday the 19th.
